Landlord 30' Voluntary Land Set Aside
In the fall of 2015, when corn prices slid below $3.00, caused by overproduction, we initiated a voluntary program for landlords to participate in. This program was designed to set aside the 30 feet of land next to a woods, brush fence line, or open ditch and not produce any row crops on it.
Thirty feet multiplied by a mile long line is only giving up 3.7 acres of rent that has numerous benefits. First, it is a great pleasure to hop on the gator to take the grandkids for a ride around the farm, before the crop has been harvested in the summer. Second, if they are not profitable acres that means that your renter is losing money farming it. Lastly, God's other creatures will love you for your efforts.
Pick up the phone and call your renter to let them know you would like to set aside the 30' of land next to the woods before he plants in the spring. Be sure to include he is not responsible for rent over that area any longer as well.
We guarantee you will take great pride in doing your part to make this a better world!
